Director

Bernard is a seasoned financial services executive with over 35 years of experience across insurance, wealth management, asset management, stockbroking, and employee benefits. He currently serves as a Director of both International Assurance Limited PCC and AssetHouse Limited, an independent investment management and financial advisory firm in Mauritius.

 

Bernard began his career in South Africa’s life assurance industry before moving into investment management as a Portfolio Manager for JSE-listed securities. He went on to co-found Incorporated Securities, serving as Managing Director until its merger with the Appleton Group, which later listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. At Appleton, he led the private wealth management division until its acquisition by PSG Group in 2003.

 

Following this, Bernard co-founded AssetHouse, which has grown into a trusted boutique advisory firm serving high-net-worth individuals and institutions. In addition to his leadership in Mauritius, Bernard has held international roles, including Director at Belmont Investments, a New York and Dublin-based alternative investment strategy manager.

 

At International Assurance, Bernard holds executive responsibility for Company operations, including oversight of finance, IT, information systems strategy & architecture, legal, marketing, and policy administration. He leads the alignment of operational infrastructure with International Assurance’s strategic goals, ensuring efficient delivery of services, compliance with regulatory frameworks, and continuous improvement across core functions.

 

Bernard holds a Diploma in Business Administration and is registered as a Key Individual with the South African Financial Services Board (across categories 1, II, IIA, III, and IV). He is also a professional member of the Mauritius Institute of Directors, reflecting his ongoing commitment to strong corporate governance and boardroom leadership.

 

Bernard is resident in Mauritius.
