Richard is a seasoned financial services executive with over three decades of experience in insurance, investments, wealth management, and cross-border financial structuring. He currently serves as a Director of International Assurance Limited PCC and AssetHouse Limited, an independent investment management and financial advisory firm in Mauritius.

 

At International Assurance, Richard is responsible for driving global business development and leading the Company’s customer relationship management strategy. He is instrumental in expanding the Company’s international footprint, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, responsive service throughout the customer life cycle.

 

Richard launched his career in 1994 at The Appleton Group, initially as an Investment Manager before rising to Director of Appleton Investment Services. There, he specialised in Channel Islands-domiciled insurance products and offshore investment solutions, gaining deep technical knowledge and international exposure.

 

In 2003, he co-founded AssetHouse Limited, establishing the firm as a leader in independent financial advisory and investment management for international clients. His entrepreneurial leadership helped grow AssetHouse into a respected boutique, servicing advisors and clients across Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

 

Richard’s industry leadership includes serving as:

 

• Founding President, South African Chamber of Commerce in Mauritius

• Member, Mauritius Stock Exchange Listing Committee (since 2019)

• Investment Committee Member, SBM Mauritius Asset Managers Unit Trusts (2015–2023)

 

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Rhodes University and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation from Free State University. Richard is registered as a Key Individual with the South African Financial Services Board and is a professional member of the Mauritius Institute of Directors, reflecting his commitment to governance and ethical business conduct.
